For many of us, appetizers and sides are an excuse to add some fried food to our takeout orders. While there are plenty of options for tasty fried sides—onion rings, jalapeños poppers, french fries, even ravioli—nothing quite matches fried chicken. But if we’re talking fried chicken for appetizers and sides, there are two main contenders we have to consider: tenders and wings. Everyone has their preference, and if we’re being honest, we love them both, but it’s still fun to compare.
What’s your favorite, chicken tenders or wings? Let’s see how these snack titans stack up.
Tenders: Enjoy the Options
We’ve waxed poetical about our life-long love of chicken tenders before, and there’s a lot to love about them. One of their best qualities is their versatility. Not only can you enjoy them on their own, but you can also put them in a sandwich, on your salad, or even on pizza. With their crispy exterior and warm interior, chicken tenders are always a welcome addition to any meal. Even better, they can be a meal on their own.
Wings: Better for Sharing
When you’re looking for a snack to share, however, wings have a leg up. As much as we love chicken tenders, we can be a little selfish when it comes to whether or not we want to share. Wings, on the other hand, are made for sharing. Whether you order them in a basket or a bucket, the smaller size per piece means you have more to grab and dip for everyone at the table.
Both: All the Sauces
Speaking of dipping, that’s an area where tenders and wings overlap. Both are perfect for dipping or covering in sauce. Our three favorites are buffalo, barbeque, and teriyaki, but there are plenty of other options. Honey mustard, bleu cheese, and ranch are all great options when you want to mix up the flavor profiles.
